Context-bound protection

Raise the work needed to turn isolated findings into useful understanding.

Method contextLive stateConsumer checks

A dependency is part of the protection#

A decoder, a dispatcher and a call resolver become more consequential when they share live context. Selected string and numeric consumers can depend on method-scoped state and the actual control-flow state. An isolated decoder invocation then lacks part of the context that the legitimate path supplies.

The analysis problem moves from locating one function to reconstructing the conditions under which its result is valid. This is the architectural purpose of cross-layer binding. The map below shows selected relationships; a protection profile determines which bindings an eligible method receives.

Context dependency map

Select a node to inspect its role and connected layers.

Context

Shared state connects selected value, flow and reference protections. Reconstructing one layer may require understanding conditions created by another, expanding the unit of analysis beyond a single expression.

Schematic relationships for selected layers; not a complete runtime trace.

The execution path participates#

The flow binding uses the dispatcher’s actual state where that layer is enabled. Reference linkage can retain guards on the source context and key even after the target has been linked. Resolving a reference once therefore does not imply that the guarded fast path has become an unrestricted call.

Targeted tests combine string protection, numeric protection, dispatch state and indirect calls, including a virtualized resolver configuration. They also exercise wide method signatures near JVM slot limits. This checks interaction between layers, where compatibility defects can hide when each transform is tested alone.

Check where the value is consumed#

An entry check and a consumer check answer different questions. Entry validation establishes the initial context. A later consumer must still receive the expected state. Complexer’s targeted regression cases include state changes after entry authentication and colliding hash values, rather than treating a matching digest as sufficient evidence of full-value identity.

Carry context across method boundaries#

Method-scoped state can be transported through eligible internal call relationships. Boundary selection matters: library contracts, entry points, inheritance groups and functional interfaces impose constraints. A hidden parameter must not silently break a descriptor that external code relies on. The engine’s compatibility policies preserve these contracts while treating internal relationships more aggressively.
